How much is the freedom and life of a drug dealer worth in dollars?

SELLING DRUGS: A BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE

Is the Risk and the Work Involved in Doing the Business Worth What You Get Back?

The earlier chapters of this book explained the effects of each drug on the mind and body. People can easily become addicted to drugs. As people become addicted, they want more drugs. People who are addicted and do not have the money for drugs might do anything to get the money or drugs they need for their habit. The product makes them dangerous because drugs can make a user go crazy (psychotic).

There is always the danger that a drug dealer will use the product (drugs) he/she sells and become addicted to drugs. As a dealer becomes addicted, using drugs becomes the focus of his/her life and the business can fail. Can you think of other things that may affect the drug dealing business?

The Customer, Competition and Location

Many customers are located in dangerous areas and can be very dangerous themselves. Since drugs are the customers driving force, ask yourself the following questions:

1. Would a drug addict steal from you to get drugs?

2. Would a drug addict hurt you?

3. Would a drug addict kill you?

4. Have you seen a difference between a person's behavior when using a drug and when not using a drug?

5. How many dealers get hurt or killed by drug using customers?

6. Do drug dealers risk harm from other drug dealers in the same location?

7. Can you list other things that would give you more utility or enjoyment than hanging around drug addicts?

The Supplier

Since drug dealing is illegal, there is little you can do if the supplier sells you bad or poor quality drugs. Remember, it's cheaper to cut drugs with harmful or inactive ingredients.

Ask yourself the following questions:

1. If you sold bad drugs to your customers, what would they do to you?

2. If you were buying drugs form a certain supplier, and then decided to stop, would the supplier like losing your business?

3. If your money were stolen and you couldn't pay your supplier, would the supplier hurt you?

4. Have drug suppliers ever hurt or killed someone?

The Risks

The risks involved with any illegal activity are dangerous. Risks in dealing drugs are even more dangerous because the effects of drugs make people do things they wouldn't do normally. Many people in jail say they wouldn't have done what they were convicted of if they hadn't been using drugs. Marijuana and alcohol are abused by many prisoners, and may be the reason they are in jail today.

The risks include:

1. Being put in jail.
2. Being hurt by suppliers, customers, other dealers and gang members.
3. Being killed by suppliers, customers, other drug dealers and gang members.
4. Becoming addicted to the product you sell.
5. Losing your money.
6. Losing your freedom.

The Investment

You need to invest your time, money, and yourself to get money back. You need to think through these things to decide if it's worth what you get in return.

The Return

A return is not only money, but how you feel about what you are doing.

Does/Would dealing drugs give you the most pleasure in your life?

What do you buy with your money?

Are the material things in life worth what you would be giving up?
